Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
Day One: – Kigali – Genocide memorial visit
A representative from goshawk tours will meet you at your hotel or pick you up from the airport and after briefing you we can undertake a city tour in Kigali if time allows. Kigali is the Capital City of Rwanda . It is an attractive city spread which some refer to as the city of thousand hills for which Rwanda is well known for.
The City has a lovely, cheerful air and its people are some of the most gracious in the world. The markets, the handicraft shops and the genocide sites are some of the main places of that you must visit . If time allows , you will have to visit Nyabugogo market, the Moslem quarter in Nyamirambo, the Franco-Rwanda cultural centre and a genocide memorial.
You will later be transferred to your accommodation in Ruhengeri, the main base town for Gorilla tracking, about 90 minutes drive from Kigali. The road is fairly good and offers some spectacular mountain scenery of Rwandas hilly countryside.

Day Two: Gorilla Safari
Take breakfast and report at 0730hrs to the Parc National des Volcans Headquarters in Kinigi office for registration, briefing and formalities. (your driver-guide will take care of this). Briefing by the parks guides on how to behave once in presence of the Gorillas. Then drive on the brim of Parc National des Volcans.
Thereafter go through the park for Gorilla trekking. The time taken to look out for these gentle apes will vary with how close they will be and it is unpredictable because the search is in their natural habitats. The gorilla safari here commences at about 2000 meters above sea level in the upmost slopes of the Volcanoes. After tracking and encountering your assigned group you will spend one hour in their company before tracking your steps down the volcanoes.
An en counter after a strenuous walk is a worthwhile! If time allows, you will visit the little known but eloquently gorgeous twin lakes of BULERA & RUHONDO. Dinner & Overnight at the lodge of your budget.
Day Three: Shopping
On this day you can relax before your flight connections or go for last minute shopping before being driven to the airport for your outbound flight.

Day One: Rwanda Safari Tour
On arrival at Kanombe Airport, our tours representative will pick you up and transfer you to Kigali for a city tour. You will visit the genocide memorial. The Kigali Genocide Memorial was launched in April 2004 on the 10th Anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. This Centre is well set on a place in Kigali where over 250,000 people are buried.
These graves are a patent aide memoire of the cost of unawareness. The site is an undeviating memorial to victim of Rwanda genocide. It is a place for people to grieve the loved ones that succumbed to the genocide. It contains a permanent exhibition of the Rwandan genocide and an exhibition of other genocides around the world.
You will then transfer to Kinigi for dinner and overnight at Budget Kinigi Guest House Standard – Gorilla nest lodge Luxury Volcanoes Np / Sabinyo Silver Back
Day Two: Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, report at the ORTPN offices for registration and briefing. Drive to the Volcanoes National Park for a memorable gorilla trek. Gorilla tracking may sometimes seem to be strenuous so trekkers are required to be fit because it may take from 2 hours to 10 hours .
You will return to the lodge . In the afternoon if trekking ends early , you may visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel on Full board basis.
Day Three: Dian fossey / golden monkey trek
After an early breakfast, report at the ORTPN Office for registration and briefing, thereafter drive to the Volcanoes National Park for the Golden Monkeys trekking or Dianne Fossey grave trekking.
The Golden monkey is one of the most rare primates in Africa . It is now believed that the only feasible population of these monkeys are left in the Virunga Volcanoes National park. A lesser populace may exist in the Nyungwe Forest National Park in Southern Rwanda but this has yet to be confirmed. The golden monkey is a dissimilar species of guenon – Cercopithecus Kandti and is prevalent to the Albertine Rift.
While the Dianne fossey trek will take you to the graves of the late famous American zoologist Dianne Fossey who was murdered while on her research about Gorillas and other primates in Park des Volcans. Volcanoes NP was the base for the famous American naturalist who carried out her research into the gorillas. She arrived in 1967 and established the Karisoke Research Centre between Karisimbi and Visoke.
Since then, she exhausted nearly all her time in the park. She is extensively ascribed for saving the gorillas from annihilation by conveying their predicament to the attention of the international community. She was murdered by unknown assailants at her home in 1985, a crime often attributed to the poachers she had spent her life fighting against.
Fossey’s dynamism research was later revealed in the movie Gorillas in the Mist, marked after her memoirs. She was buried in the volcanoes National park in a grave close to her research center amongst the gorillas which became her life.
You can choose either of the treks because both of them begin in the morning. Retire for dinner and over night at your lodge in Kinigi or if your flight tomorrow is early then we will transfer you to Kigali for your dinner and overnight at Hotel Chez Lando or Hotel Gorillas or Hotel Des Mille collines or Hotel Kigali Serena.
Day Four: Shopping
After breakfast, walk around the city, shopping for Rwandan souvenirs Transfer to the Airport for your home-bound flight.

- Do not feed the animals, i.e. monkeys or baboons.
- Do give the animals the right of way and do not disturb wildlife.
- Do not take any plant or animals remains, dead or alive.
- Do not start fires or throw cigarettes in the reserve.
- Do stay in your vehicle except at designated viewing points.
- Do not shout, laugh loudly, play radio or cassettes as this will keep away the animals.
- Do not provoke any animals its dangerous.
